The Masked singer
season 4
Masked Singer season 4 was a large body of my work for 2022; I was lead on Piece of Cake and joint lead on Otter and Jellyfish. I was also able to make contributions to Pheonix and Rubbish.
Piece of cake
I loved working on piece of cake, it was my first Masked Singer costume where I got to lead and make many of the elements from sculpting the face to final artworking. The mask is a varaform base with a foam ‘frosting’ wig, a reticulated foam body and cupcake feet.

Testing the eyes. The great thing about this mask is the whole face was vision.

Jellyfish
I was leading on Jellyfish’ mask. The base is a varaform dome with a welded cage over the top. The panels are two layers of iridescent organza, cut out with a soldering iron to prevent fray and then art worked. Each rib has a line of RGB leds which run to the top of the mask and down a central stem and down to a battery back on the body.

otter
Otter was a really fast turn around and I’m proud of what was achieved in such a short time. I made the wetsuit and the body sculpting underneath, the tail, the feet and the pebbles (in the pockets).
The tail is made of reticulated foam in sections with rings of fur so that it can be large but lightweight and, most importantly, able to swing and move. The wetsuit is made of scrim backed scuba and the head is attached with an open-ended zip hidden by a placket.
